Below you can see the communities we created. The green map is the one we created as a class. Then in reading groups each group created their own community map.

We had a blast at the South Mountain Creamery! We learned all about cows. We saw where they eat, drink and get milked. We also saw where their food is made, where the milk is collected and stored and we saw BABIES! We got to pet and meet the baby calves.
They milk the cows every day at 1:30. We had to leave before this happened so we didn't get to see that. If you ever go back to the farm you can see this and bottle feed a baby at 4pm. Here are some pictures from the fun! Today in our class meeting we reviewed respect. Most of our problems had to do with not showing respect. (Ex. Saying unkind things about a lunch, turning your back on someone, not helping to clean up, bossing someone around etc.) We talked about when we show respect we make our friends feel cared for and important. We identified ways we can show respect. We are learning all about equal shares. We watched this video and had a HUGE laugh. We are dividing shapes into equal parts. Today we had two Montgomery County Police Officers come to school to talk to us about their jobs. We learned all about police officers. We had an extra special guest... a canine officer!! We got to meet Axel and watch him work.
We learned how to compose a 10 using the written method. Here is a visual for you to understand how we are using this method.
